Martin, Hobert Marvin

Hobert (“Rabbit”) Marvin Martin, 81, of Pearisburg, VA, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023. He was born October 5, 1941 in Narrows, VA, the son of the late Jesse & Winnie Fleeman Martin.

“Rabbit” was a member & “construction foreman” of Riverview Baptist Church. He was a Godly, good man who loved the Lord, his church and church family. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam Era. He was known to be a little stubborn and a jack of all trades. “Rabbit” never met a stranger and was well known far and wide. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse A. & Winnie Maye Fleeman Martin, his first wife, Dawana Vest Martin, his second wife, Terry Kay Carroll Martin, his brothers, his twin, Hubert Martin, Wayne Martin, Oakley Martin and Gary Martin and his sister, Coleen Coburn.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters & sons-in-law, Elizabeth (Beth) & Tim Williams and Jodi & J.D. Cheeks; his granddaughters, Brooke Williams and Iris Cheeks; his brother, Roger Martin; special nephews, Todd Martin and Tony Martin; his “side kick”, Keith Reese and special neighbors, Pete & Jennifer Woods.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 4:00 P.M. at Riverview Baptist Church with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 P.M. until service time, 4:00 P.M. Graveside committal services and military rites will be held Monday, March 13, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at Birchlawn Burial Park with military rites provided by the Giles Co. VFW Post # 6000, the Narrows American Legion Post # 68, the Pembroke American Legion Post # 311, the Peterstown American Legion Post # 145 and the Virginia Military Funeral Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in “Rabbit’s” honor to Riverview Baptist Church, 219 Big Stony Creek Rd., Ripplemead, VA 24150.
