Martin, “Freddie” Ray

“Freddie” Teddy Ray Martin, 67, of Cross Ave in Pearisburg, departed this life Saturday afternoon, May 12, 2018 at his home in the loving care of his family and hospice. Born in Pearisburg on August 13, 1950, he was a son of the late David Caudell and Dorothy Ann Merrix Martin.

He was a member of Ingram Village United Methodist Church in Pearisburg, was a machinist with Patrick Enterprises in Pembroke, was a 1969 graduate of Giles High School, enjoyed sports (especially the NY Yankees, Green Bay Packers, Virginia Tech and Giles High School).

He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law Raymond Pyles.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved and devoted wife of forty-eight years Bonnie Pyles Martin; his mother-in-law Helen Virginia Pyles; his brothers Harvey (Becky) Martin of Pearisburg, David Martin of Dublin, and Gary Martin of Newport; his sisters Betty Smith of Newport and Joyce Meredith of Pembroke; his sisters-in-law Billie Moses of Pembroke, Debbie (Jackie)Vest of Dublin; his brother-in-law Raymond R (Kathy) Pyles of Bane; his special caregivers Shannon Pyles and Debbie Vest; special niece Leslie (Eric) Sharp; his two special “grandchildren” Lainy and Easton Sharp; and several other beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 4:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastors Shahn Wilburn and Ted Anders officiating. Burial will follow in Angels Rest Memory Gardens at Narrows. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 until 8 pm.
