Martin, Esta Cunningham

Esta Cunningham Martin, 83, of Floyd, Va., passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009. Esta was a devoted member of the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren and loved her church family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin D. Martin; son, Melvin G. Martin; grandson, Jody G. Martin; parents, Wilton and Pearl Cunningham; brothers, Lewis and Hampton Cunningham; and sister, Eloise C. Nester.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Roy H. and Diane Martin, and Ernest L. and Ina Martin; daughters and son-in-law, Barbara M. Ayers, and Joyce M. and Lenard Howell; brother and sister-inlaw, Andrew and Virginia Cunningham; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lizzie M. Marshall, Viola C. and Clarence Nolen, Virginia C. and Sherman Haley, and Marjorie C. Lucas; six grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Roy Turpin and the Rev. Marvin Wade officiating. Interment to follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Maberry Funeral Home.
