Eloise Collins Martin (Reiner), 79 of Pembroke, VA departed this life Wednesday morning, June 15, 2022 due to a massive heart attack. She was glowing as Billy Joe; daughter Sandra Gale and all other ancestors were waiting at the threshold of Heaven.

She was born on October 6, 1942 at home by a midwife, Mrs. Meredith. She was the eighth of 13 children to the late Mary Hilda Williams Collins and Rassie Collins.

Eloise and Billy Joe met when they worked at the Apple Orchard on Doe Creek. Fifteen years into their marriage, Billy Joe had a stroke. Eloise faithfully took care of him throughout his life. She also sat with older people, doing a compassionate service, always being there for someone when needed. She was a devout member of the Pembroke Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Eloise was enjoyed studying genealogy; gardening, canning to feed her family, and flowers.

In addition to her parents, Eloise is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Martin; her beloved daughter, Sandra Gale who she was never able to raise; sisters, Mamie Merrix, and Susie Collins Caldwell; and brothers, Clyde Collins, Rassie Junior Colllins, Marshall Collins, Robert Collins, James Collins, and Elmer Lemore Collins.

Left to cherish her memory to their hearts are her daughters. Teresa Ann Martin of Pembroke, Sherry Marie Eaton of Pembroke, and Angela Hamblin (Garry) of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Chelsey Eaton, and “JW” Eaton; step-grandson, Greg Hamblin; great-grandchildren, Adriana “Andi” Miller, and Rusty Allen Combs; a brother, Clinton “June Bug” Collins; sisters Virginia “Jingle Bells” Colllins, Josephine Dowdy; and “Dolly” Janney (Bobby); and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Pembroke Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Mark Bunker presiding. Funeral Services will conclude with a dedication of the grave in the Martin Cemetery in Pembroke, VA.
