Martin, Doris C. (Baker)

Doris C. Martin (Baker), 97, of Blacksburg, Va., peacefully passed away on July 12, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Glenn E. Martin. Doris was born and grew up in Rochester, N.Y. and worked several summers in Inlet and Raquette Lake, N.Y. She and Glenn retired to Indian Rocks Beach, Fla. for 25 years before moving to Blacksburg. She served as an officer in the Clearwater Artists’ League, and was a member of the Indian Rocks Beach Art Center. Survivors include her son, Glen T. Martin; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Turk; granddaughter, Rebekah Martin Turk, of Radford, Va.; daughter, Elaine H. Sumner; son-in-law, Steven E. Sumner; grandsons, Steven G., Jason, and Brian Sumner, of Fresno, Calif.; also several nieces and nephews. Cremation by Roselawn Funeral Home, Princeton, W.Va. Interment and Memorial Service at Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg, Va., in August 2011, details to be announced. The family suggests that memorials be made to Good Samaritan Hospice of Christiansburg, Va.
