Daphine June Sutphin Martin, 89, of Radford, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016. Prior to moving to Commonwealth Assisted Living in Christiansburg, Daphine was a very active member of Carter Street United Methodist Church. She spent much of her time there in worship and in leadership roles. She participated in the choir, Sunday School, Bible Study, and as a member of the ladies quilting group.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Oliver Martin; brother, Everett W. Sutphin; and sister, Iris James.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Curtis Alan and Cindy Martin of Damascus, Md.; grandchildren, Cadence Moneyhon and husband Patrick, Christa Martin and Carly Martin; sisters, Betty Sutphin Hudson of Johnson City, Tenn. and Janice Sullenger of Huntland, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews. The family offers special thanks to Southern Care Hospice, and friends, Donna Boyd and Myrtle & Alan Kenley.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Carter Street United Methodist Church in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. with Rev. Kristie Banes and Rev. Betsy King officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
