In addition to his parents Bobby was preceded in death by his two sons, Dave Allen Martin and Michael Chris Martin, sister, Shirley Shaver.
Left to carry on his memory is his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Mary Jane Martin, his daughter and son-in-law, Katonya Martin Bishop (Brian) of Christiansburg, Va., grandchildren, Dallas Martin, Drew King (Allie), Spencer Martin, Ariel Martin, Callie Williams and Cassie Bishop, one great-granddaughter, Ella Martin, brother, Billy Martin (Dorothy) of Radford, Va., sister, Nita Kingrea of Christiansburg, Va., brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Johnny and June Cox of Blacksburg, Va., several nieces and nephews, special companion, Oscar.
Bobby worked hard all his life, but it is what he enjoyed. He could fix anything and find water in the ground with a stick. After getting settled in at his heavenly home I’m sure he was looking for grass to cut.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Faith Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Vest and Rev. Neal Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5-7:00 pm at McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.

As Bobby’s roommate while at Carilion New River Medical Center I was blessed to have made a friend in the short week that we spent together. I take solace in knowing that Bobby was a servant of the Lord. I know this as I was privileged to overhear his prayers. It is rare that two people become so close in such a short period of time. My life has been positively affected by our short relationship. Prayers for Mary and all of her family.

I was his nurse. What a sweet, sweet man. Mr. Dorman he thought so highly of you. We tried so hard to keep him. God had a different plan.
