Berman Cecil Martin, age 84 of Pulaski passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 in the Radford Health and Rehab Center. Born June 27, 1928 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Roy Cecil Martin and Viola Brewer Martin. A sister, Eloise Martin and five brothers, Alton, Norman, James, Irvin and Delmas Martin also preceded him in death.

Mr. Martin was born, raised, and lived in the Mt Olivet community of Pulaski County. He spent his entire life there except for the years he spent in the United States Army and until recently when his health declined. He was a proud veteran of the Korean Conflict. When he returned to Pulaski after his military discharge, he worked at Jefferson Mills and Pulaski Furniture Corporation. To better care for his family, he took GED classes so he could attend what now New River Community College all while working full time. When receiving his machinist certificate, he went to work for at Xaloy, Inc .and retired with over 15 years of service.

Surviving- His wife of 62 years- Helen Jewell Warburton Martin. Children- Kathy M. Murphy and husband, Donald-Pulaski, Gary M. Martin and wife, Karen-Pulaski. “Poppy” of- Jennen Murphy Adcock and husband, Jason; Michael Martin Murphy, Shellyn Nicole Martin, Kristi Martin Thorpe and husband, Philip; Katelyn Brooke Martin, and Gary Tyler Martin. “Grandpoppy”of- Madelyn and Megan Adcock and Nathan and Hannah Thorpe. Sister- Elizabeth Martin Ward- Pulaski. Sister-in-law-Bonnie Sullivan Kilpatrick-Chesapeake,VA., Brother-in-law- Robert Sullivan and wife, Helen-Teague, TX. Numerous Nieces and Nephews-

Funeral services will be held Thursday 2:00 p.m., September 13, 2012 the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with Rev. James Thorpe officiating. Interment will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin with military honors conducted by the Pulaski VFW Post #1184. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service hour at Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Radford Health and Rehab and Good Samaritan Hospice for taking care of our Daddy during the past few months.
