Marshall, James (Monroe)
James (Monroe) Marshall, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 3, 2012. He was born on November 7, 1936, the oldest child of Isaac Marshall and Mae Dishon Marshall. After graduating from New River Community College, Monroe was employed as a Manufacturing Engineer. He retired from Medeco Security Locks, where he received numerous awards for his lock designs. He was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Lions Club and the Jaycees. He served on the Advisory Board of Virginia Western Community College and was a member of Grace Life Baptist Church. Monroe will always be remembered for the love he had for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Peggy Lester. He is survived by his fiancee, Gloria Anderson; his daughter, Tressia Price and husband, Haven, of Callaway; son, Randy Marshall and wife Donna, of Hiwassee; sisters Ella Mae Shepard, Rollie Lester and husband, Wayne; brother, Paul Marshall; grandchildren, Dr. Justin Price and wife, Julia, Kristen Sosebee and husband, Kirk, Stacey Brewbaker, Alyssa Berryman and husband Monty; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family would like to express a special thanks to Traci’s Care Givers, Carilion Hospice, and Dr. Harry McCoy and his staff for the care that they provided for Monroe. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012, at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2012, in the Horne Funeral Chapel, with Dr. A Timothy Hight and the Rev. Gary Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Dishon Cemetery, Snowville. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Grace Life Baptist Church Building Fund.
