hummingbirdKathy Mantz, of Radford, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013, following a brief illness, with her son, Tony, by her side. She was the daughter of George (Papa Joe) and Bertha V. Christofis, and was the widow of Russell G. Mantz, Jr . Kathy was born in Roanoke, graduated from Jefferson High School, and National Business College. She served as Executive Director of the Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce for many years. She was a faithful member of Walton Pentecostal Holiness Church. Kathy was a wonderful mother to her beloved son, Tony. She loved riding her special horse, Princess, on trails and wagon trains for many years with her husband, Russell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Ron Divers, Sr., her beloved son, Ronald Wayne Divers, Jr. Family members left to cherish her memory include her son, Edward Anthony (Tony) Divers, of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Elaine C. Gill of Daleville, Va., Maria V. Christofis of Bedford, Va.; a brother, Dimitri (Mitch) Christofis of Daleville, Va.; nieces, Stephanie G. Tito of Daleville, Va., Laura A. Gill of Richmond, Va.; a stepson, Michael Glenn Mantz and Denise “Mickie” Altizer of Radford, Va. Kathy’s lifelong friends included Diane Cox, Pat Brooks, and Mary Bowles. She also had two “adopted” sons, Daniel Blackburn and Johnny Fain. Kathy’s love for them and the friendship they shared will forever hold a special place in their hearts. Kathy never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by her many friends, family, and “adopted” family. She will join her beloved Russell and ride the trail together again. The family extends their appreciation for all of the phone calls, texts, support and prayers during Kathy’s illness. A memorial service celebrating Kathy’s life will be held on September 28, 2013 at Walton Pentecostal Holiness Church, 4003 Morning Glory Dr., Radford, VA 24141, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jordan Myers. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Walton Pentecostal Holiness Church, 4003 Morning Glory Dr., Radford, VA 24141.
