Dr. Vivian Tsou Mah, a devoted woman to God, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and long-time resident of Radford, Va., died early Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at New River Valley Medical Center. Born on October 28, 1934, in Beijing, China, she earned her BS in pharmacy at the University of Taiwan in 1957. In 1959, she came to the United States to attend Virginia Tech where she earned her MS and Ph.D. Radford University awarded Faculty Emeritus status to Dr. Mah upon her retirement of over 30 years of enriching the lives of many students. Vivian touched many lives with her warm heart and loving, caring way. Vivian is preceded in death by her mother and father, George and Josephine Tsou; and brother, Hsi-Meng Tsou. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Valiant Mah; son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Rhonda Mah; son and daughterin-law, George and Beth Mah; daughter, Grace Mah; grandsons, Andrew, Stephen, and Hayden; granddaughter, Olivia; brother and sister-inlaw, Edward and Sophia Tsou; and sister and brother-in-law, Meling and Jeffrey Yang. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Radford. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that contributions be made to the Mah-Stone Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship at Radford University or the Kay Ellerman Music Endowment at First Baptist Church in Radford.
