Jill Mackin, age 59, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 of natural causes. Jill was the long-time chef and smiling face behind the lunch counter at the Floyd Country Store. She was known to thousands of locals and visitors for her easy manner and good food. You never saw her without a smile, and you could also count on her for a kind word. She is survived by her daughter, Tamara Slife; and grandson Fox, who was “the light of her life,” both of Floyd; and an extended family in Wisconsin. She will be missed by her family, friends, and visitors to the Floyd Country Store. A celebration of her life will be held at the Floyd Country Store on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. for family and friends. In honor of Jill, the Country Store will prepare some of her favorite recipes. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Floyd County Humane Society.
