William Lee Mabe, Sr. age 73 of Dublin passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Lewis Gale Hospital, Pulaski. Born August 12, 1938 Allisonia, he was the son of the late Fred and Dorothy Gravely Mabe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the children’s mother, Imogene Shelton Mabe, one sister, Memphis “Sis” Mabe and Brother-in-law, Elmer “Pud” Hopkins, Jr.

He was retired from Schneider Trucking Company with over 30 years of service. Mr. Mabe was a veteran of the United States Army having served with the 3rd Armored Division “Spearhead” while stationed in Germany.

He is survived by his Children- Elaine and Wesley Roop, Jr.-Roanoke, William “Billy” Mabe, Jr. and wife, Leah-Cana, Janet and Tim McPeake-Dublin. Four Grandchildren- Lauren and Erin McPeake-Dublin. Levi Mabe-Cana. Kaiser Roop-Roanoke. Sisters- Ruthie Simpkins-Pulaski, Sandy Mabe-Pulaski, Darlene Hopkins- Max Meadows. Brother- Shelley “Sam” Mabe- Newbern. Niece- Shelly Lawimore-Charlotte, N.C., Nephew- Richard Hopkins- Max Meadows, Step- Daughter- Jean Cook , Two Step-Grandchildren- Brandyn and Nathan Sayers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., April 25, 2012 in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with Rev. Leslie Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin with military honors conducted by the Pulaski V.F.W Post # 1184. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski.
