Lyons, Roger Douglas

Roger Douglas (Doug) Lyons, 33, of Dublin, Virginia, died Friday, March 9, 2007 due to an accident.

Born July 8, 1973 in Pulaski, he is the son of Roger Dale Lyons and Lora Melvin Lyons Thornton. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harvey A. Melvin and paternal grandparents, James W. and Nancy Lyons.

He was employed with Alliant Tech, Radford with over 6 years of service. He was a member of the Heritage Church, Dublin. His great loves were his fishing, hunting, sports and being with family and friends.

Surviving are his mother, Lora Melvin Lyons Thornton and husband, Donald Thornton, Pulaski; father, Roger Dale Lyons and Vickey Ball, Mineral Wells, W.Va.; son, Joshua Damron; stepson, Austin Cole; very special friend, Michelle Melton, Radford; two sisters, Kerry Montgomery, Dublin, LaDonna Dalton and husband, David, Dublin; two stepsisters, Tammy Thornton, Walton, April Montgomery and husband, Mark, Radford; one stepbrother, Andy Thornton, Pulaski; maternal grandmother, Irene K. Melvin, Dublin; paternal grandmother, Vera M. Lyons, Radford; one niece, Jamey Dalton; three nephews, Kasey McCambridge, Brad Montgomery and Alex Dalton and aunts, uncles, cousins, and step nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 2 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with the Rev. Darlene Marshall and the Rev. Michael Brummitt officiating. Interment will follow at Old Dublin Cemetery, Dublin. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski.
