Charles Samuel Lynch Sr., 76, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away peacefully from this life surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. He was born in McConnellsburg, Pa., on October 14, 1933, to Almira Miller Lynch and Tony Lynch.

Mr. Lynch was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Jane Lynch Snyder. In addition he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Amtower Lynch; and a grandchild, Samantha Kay Lynch.

Mr. Lynch served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. He continued his career as a supervisory computer specialist with the federal government until retirement after 33 years. His retirement was spent traveling and caring for his wife.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Charles S. Jr. and Mary Lynch, and Anthony S. and Angela Lynch; grandchildren, Bill and Chris Thornton, Jenna Rae Woolwine, Kelly Marie Lynch, Braedon Ray and Brandon Ray Woolwine; great granddaughter, Raven Abigail Lynch; and special friends, Jack Peterson, Harvey and Cynthia Sowers.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Sowinski and the staff at Heritage Hall Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September, 23, 2010, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg, Va., with Pastor Pete Flinchum and Pastor Darrell Linkous officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, Va.
