George William Lyle III, 83 of Radford, died Monday, July 9, 2007. He was born August 7, 1923 in Radford, the son of the late George William Lyle, Jr. and Mary Catlin Lyle.

He attended Radford City Schools, the University of Virginia and graduated from Richmond Professional Institute of the College of William & Mary (now known as VCU).

He was a veteran of World War II, stationed in the Pacific, and the Korean Conflict through service in the U. S. Marine Corps. In 1953 he joined the family business, Lyle’s Drugstore, where he was a business partner with his father and later his brother.

He was an active member of The Presbyterian Church of Radford where he served as an Elder and a Deacon and participated on several committees.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marjorie Miller Lyle; one brother and his wife, Willard Edwin Lyle and Anne Parsons Lyle of Radford; one niece, Jennifer Sims Lyle of Dublin; and one nephew, Kevin Catlin Lyle of Radford.

Memorial services will be held Friday, July 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church of Radford with Rev. David Dickerson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Presbyterian Church of Radford, 201 4th Street, Radford, VA 24141. The Lyle family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
