Lugar, Russell Brown

Russell Brown Lugar, 87, of Newport, died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Lewis GaleMontgomery Hospital. He was born in Craig County, on July 8, 1923, to the late Henry Leona and Effie Craig Hypes Lugar. He was a Veteran of World War II and a member of the Pipefitters and Plumbers Local Union #491. He is survived by his wife, June Estellene Abbott Lugar, Yadkinville, N.C.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Frances Carol Lugar Alderman, Yadkinville, N.C., Doris Ann Lugar Beauchemin (Ed), Chesterfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, David Russell Lugar (Joy), Mt. Pleasant, N.C., Alan Ray Lugar (Diane), New Castle; six grandchildren, Caroline Joy Alderman, Alexandria, Brandon Edmond Beauchemin, Fletcher, N.C., Aaron Russell Beauchemin (Kerry), Media, Pa., Amy Rebecca Lugar (Tony Johnson), Chester, Christopher David Lugar, McCoy, Emma Mariah Lugar, Charlotte, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Ella Rose Beauchemin, ELizabeth Nicole Lugar, William Christopher Lugar; a sister, Frances Lugar Carper, Narrows; a nephew, Marion Lamford Carper, Mira Loma, Calif. Funeral services will held Thursday, May 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Level Green Christian Church with Minister Michael Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Hypes Family Cemetery, Newport. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Simmonsville Fire Department, c/o Bryan Lipes Treasure, 7932 Cumberland Gap Road, New Castle, VA 24127. Friends may call anytime after noon Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
