Lucas, Sallie Caldwell

Sallie Elaine Caldwell Lucas, 72 of Christiansburg, VA departed this life to enter into her Heavenly Home on January 9, 2022, surrounded by the care and love of her family. Born in Giles County, Virginia on May 30, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Marybell Snidow Caldwell.

Sallie always served others first, but probably more notably at the side of children; especially that of her children, grandchildren, and bus kids that she served in Montgomery County for 48 years. Sallie would find peace in a flower or in watching the swift beating wings of a Hummingbird.

In addition to her parents, Sallie is preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Melaine Lucas.

Left to cherish her memory to their hearts are her husband of 54 years, Danny Jay Lucas; sons, Michael Lucas (Rosa Lee) of Christiansburg, VA, and Derek Lucas (Melanie Wenrich) of Riner; grandchildren, Nathan Lucas, Jacob Lucas, Izac Lucas, and Kersha Lucas, brothers, Lewyn Caldwell (Debbie) of Roanoke, VA, Lloyd Caldwell (Delaine) of Roanoke, VA, Richard Caldwell (Carolyn) of Arkansas; sisters, Virginia Lucas (Calvin) of Newport, Wanda Hypes (Lee) of Pembroke, Mabel Peters (Randy) of Ridgeway, and Nancy Moore (Todd) of Roanoke; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Funeral Service conducted Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Neal Turner officiating. Services will conclude in the Clover Hollow Cemetery in Newport, VA. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel in Pembroke, VA.
