lucas arnold eugeneArnold Eugene (Corky) Lucas Jr., of Pearisburg and Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 25, 2013. Corky was born on March 27, 1941, in Pearisburg, and was a son of the late Arnold Eugene Lucas Sr. and Nancy Duncan Lucas. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife and special friend, Betty F. Lucas; and two brothers, Jennings Lucas and George Lucas. Corky was a graduate of the Pearisburg High School (Red Devils); he owned and operated several dance schools in the Giles, Montgomery and Monroe County areas for over 40 years; was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Christiansburg; was a former employee of Wades of Pearisburg and Blacksburg; he was the organist at Christ Episcopal Church in Pearisburg; was a former member of Giles Lodge #106 A.F.& A.M in Pearisburg; and was a current member of the Knights of Columbus in Christiansburg. He is survived by two daughters, Dena Lucas Puckett and her husband, Johnny, of Christiansburg, and Hope Lucas and companion, John Peoples, of Pearisburg; one granddaughter, who was the love of his life, Alexis (Lexi) Puckett, of Christiansburg; one brother, Mike Lucas and his wife, Martha, of Blacksburg; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening, October 28, 2013, at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating.
