Lucas, Joseph Glenn

“Joey” Joseph Glenn Lucas, 69, of Castle Rock Drive, Pembroke, VA, departed this life Thursday, July 4, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a battle with lung cancer. Born in Pearisburg on May 12, 1950, he was a son of the late Luther C. and Janie Stump Lucas.

“Joey” was retired from the Celanese Plant at Narrows with thirty years service, was a 1968 graduate of Giles High School, had earned an Associate Degree at New River Community College in Dublin, was a 12 year veteran of the U S Army Reserve, a Christian and member of the Pembroke Christian Church since childhood, and served for many years as a member of the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department and was a skilled and devoted wood worker.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 34 years Rebecca Johnston Lucas; his daughters Meredith Lucas ( Heather) of Charlotte, NC, Mary Jane Cobb (Bryan) of Indian Land, SC, and Susan Bowman (Lorne) of Pembroke, his granddaughter Rylie Lucas; his sisters Linda Casciello (Al) of Newbern, NC and Lois McMahan (Terry) of Daleville.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday evening, July 8, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastors Reggie Britts and Eddie Kendall officiating.The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made in Joe’s memory to Pembroke Christian Church.
