Lowry, Samuel Owen

Samuel Owen Lowry, 60 of Pearisburg (Trigg Area), went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville. Mr. Lowry was born on January 18, 1952, in Hinton, W.Va., and was son of the late Amos and Betty Richmond Lowry. Besides his parents, he was preceded death by his brother, David Lowry, and one grandchild, Tristan Ray Williams. He was a retired employee of Volvo White Trucking, with 34 years service, a member of the UAW Local 2069, in Dublin. Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his farm, gardening and putting up hay. He is survived by three daughters, April Lowry, of Pearisburg, Shannon Lowry, of Roanoke, Mandy Williams and husband, Jon, of Pembroke; one son, Adam Lowry and wife, Jessie, of Narrows; six grandchildren, Logan, Addie, Morgan, Emily, Caleb, Ella; one great-grandchild, Lori; six sisters, Susie, Ginny, Sarah, Lola, Brenda, Cathy; four brothers, Doug, Dayton, Pete and Charlie. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg, with burial following in the Huffman Family Cemetery in Forest Hill, W.Va. The family will receive friends at Givens Funeral Home two hours before the service on Friday, from noon to 2 p.m.
