Gerald Alvis Lovern, 57, of Blacksburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at his home.

He was born September 24, 1950, at Pearisburg, Va., the son of Juanita Martin Lovern and the late Roy Garfield Lovern. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brandi Michele Lovern.

He is survived by his long time companion and best friend, Patricia Sue Lovern, Blacksburg; his mother, Juanita Martin Lovern, Dublin; two daughters, Jackie Taylor and husband, Craig, of Dublin, and Tanya Eads, Dublin; three brothers, Roy Gary Lovern and wife, Maxine, of Fayetteville, N.C., Donnie Gene Lovern and wife, Zetta, of Dublin, and Roy Tweed, Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Peggy Joyce Mills, Newport, N.C., and Carolyn Perdue, Dublin; former wife, Gloria Sadler Lovern, Dublin; and four grandchildren, Alexis M. Eads, Micah Taylor, Braydon Eads and Corban Taylor.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, at French’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Billy Akers and the Rev. Dallas Jewell officiating. Burial in Newbern Cemetery, Dublin. The visitation will be at the French’s Chapel Church on Thursday, June 26, 2008, from 7 to 9 p.m. Arrangements by A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, Va.
