Dewey Willard Lovern, 69, of Blacksburg, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 in Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was a lifelong supporter and retired employee of Virginia Tech. The son of the late Daniel Lloyd and Virginia Cromer Lovern he was also predeceased by his brother, Melvin.

A faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend he is survived by wife, Thelma Bland Lovern; children, Patricia Phillips and husband, Andrew, David Lovern and wife, Lisa, Terry Lovern; grandchildren, Daniel Phillips, Benjamin Phillips and Adrianna Carter, Joshua Lovern; brother and sisters, Tony and Sandy Lovern, Ward and Kate Lovern, Sonny Lovern, Linda and Wayne Linkous, Pat and Marlin Linkous, Lura Estes, Tootie and Buster Epperly, Phala Sheppard, Hazel Roope and Ray and Delores Bland; and several special breakfast buddies.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Horne Funeral Service. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 in the Horne Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Wayne Poston with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
