Shortly before Ruby passed away she said, “I don’t know who is the happiest, the one you make happy, or you because you made the one happy.” Ruby lived her life in a way that brought happiness to all those she met along her life journey. Those waiting for her across the veil are her parents, Shepherd Adi Alderman and Arbelia Sumner Alderman; brothers, Moyer Lee Alderman and Ellis Linsey Alderman; beloved aunt, Arminta Catherine Alderman Keith; the love of her youth and first husband, Posey G. Vaughn; beloved in-laws, Bethel Martin Vaughn and Laura Emma Harris Vaughn, Belva and Newell McGuire, Eva Lorton, Howard and Gwendolyn Vaughn, and Marie and Dale Gallimore; son-in-law, Kenneth Ray Pauley; step son-in-law, Gary Weddle; daughter-in-law, Nancy Dickerson Vaughn; and nephews, Dean Howard Vaughn and Jimmy McGuire. Those who continue life in the joy of her lovely memory are her second love and husband, Stanley C. Lorton; her children, Posey Franklin Vaughn and wife, Susan, Emma Catherine Vaughn Pauley, and William Everett (Tom) Vaughn and wife, Sandra; Ruby’s nieces and stepdaughters, Carolyn Lorton Weddle, Betty Lorton Perry and husband, Chris, and Linda Lorton Sauvageau; sisters-in-law, Virginia Alderman and Ernestine Bonds; special nieces and nephews are Dickie McGuire and wife, Anna and family, Barbara Harris and husband, Joe and family, Gerry Gallimore, Tony Gallimore, Ronald Alderman and wife, Helen and family, Richard Bond and family, and Roger Bond and family; grandchildren, Robyn Vaughn Jones and husband, Robert, Neal Vaughn and wife, Kenna, Joel Vaughn and Rachel, Laura Lynne Vaughn Coffey and husband, Clay, Tina Vaughn, Sharon Vaughn Quesenberry and husband, Darrell, John Vaughn and Amber; stepgrandchildren, Lee Weddle and wife, Annette, Lynn Weddle and wife, Terri, April Bates and husband, Neal, Amy Finch and husband, Jay, Mark Perry, Matt Perry, Allan Sauvageau and wife, Darlene, Corey Sauvageau and Linsey Sauvageau; all of the lovely greatgrandchildren and stepgrandchildren who delighted her by their presence, Anthony Caudill, Dustin Higgs, Stephanie Higgs, Matthew Reinhardt, Joshua Coffey, Lucas Coffey, Zack Ward, Gabby Vaughn, Bill Ward, Kenny Rummell, Brittany Rummell, Corey Voss, Caden Voss, Evan Finch, Christopher Bates, Cord Bates, Ethan Bates, Travis Jones, Nichole Jones, Cassidy Sauvageau, Gabe Sauvageau, Cameron Savageau, Madison Sauvageau, Zack Weddle, Ryder Vaughn and baby Jones to come; special extended family, Ray and Mallie Trzeciak; special lifelong friends, Rheba Mabery, Evelyn Slusher and Elsie Holbrook; all of the fine neighbors, the Weddles, the Snares, the Boyds, the Gladdings, the Bolts, the Hyltons, the Boones, the Peaks, the Sutphins, the Harmons, the Rascal Reeces, the Vaughns, and the Slaughters; and her loyal and strong caregivers, Sandra Reece and Gary Lavallee. Special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice and to Mark Lewis and friends for their soothing music that was a constant comfort to Ruby. Ruby loved and appreciated so many people the family is sure we missed someone. It’s like counting your blessings, you fall asleep before you finish. All who knew and loved Ruby will appreciate the wisdom she passed on to her children, “I want you to be good and kind to everyone, but remember that once in a while you have to introduce yourself.” God Bless you all. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010, in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel in Floyd with the Rev. Roy Turpin and the Rev. Norman Goad officiating, music by the Reece Family. Interment will follow in the Hylton-Vaughn Cemetery in Willis, Va. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010, at Maberry’s. Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.
