Looper, Florence Blissett

Florence Blissett Looper, 92, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

She was born in Georgia and resided in Jacksonville, Fla., since 1924. She visited Blacksburg six months a year for the last ten years to be with daughter Nancy and Tom Gabbard; grandson, Eric Taylor; and great-grandson, Forrest Daniel Taylor. She is survived by four of seven children, Richard (Virginia) Leonard, of Jacksonville, Fla., Nancy (Tom) Gabbard, of Blacksburg, Joan (Allen) Block, Robert Leonard, all of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Susan Nelson, Victor Leonard, Christopher Leonard, Chip Leonard, Todd Leonard and Eric Taylor; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008, in the Blacksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Reggie Tuck officiating. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 7, 2008, in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carilion Hospice Service, 707 Randolph St., Radford, Va. 24141.
