Loope, Alice Louise Craft

Alice Louise Craft Loope, 92, of Murrysville, Pa., and formerly of Blacksburg, Va., died on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, 2009, in Redstone Highlands, Murrysville, Pa. She was born on August 13, 1916, the daughter of the late Sid and Louise Hammit Craft and was raised in Botetourt County, Va. Mrs. Loope lived in Blacksburg, Va., prior to moving to Pennsylvania in 2003.

She was a mother and homemaker. Mrs. Loope enjoyed volunteering with the clothes bank, food bank and Meals on Wheels. She also was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, BYKOTA Sunday School Class and volunteered at the Infant Nursery at the Blacksburg Baptist Church for over 40 years. She loved to travel. She visited all 50 states. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. Mrs. Loope was a very kind and giving lady.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Loope; sister, Kathryn L. Brewbaker; and a niece, Rachel B. Corell. She is survived by four daughters, Judith L. Sears and her husband, Fred, of State College, Pa., Jane Anna Miller and her husband, Wade, of Export, Pa., Evelyn L. Camden and her husband, Tom, of Washington Twp., and Mary Kathryn Toney and her husband, Bill, of Hertford, N.C.; one nephew, Sid Brewbaker and his wife, Minnie, of Buchanan, Va.; one niece, Eve B. Smith and her husband, Dave, of Roanoke, Va.; six grandchildren, Catherine Kulp, Chris Sears, Marty and Kenny Camden, and Will and Matt Toney; five great-grandchildren; and several other nieces and nephews.

At Alice’s request, there will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the Blacksburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Don McKinney officiating. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg, Va.
