long_titus_duaneTitus Duane Long, 65, beloved husband of Jeannie (Eva) Long, died peacefully March 29, 2014 at Lewis Gale-Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg, Va. He was born in Baltimore, Md., October 17, 1948, the son of Kermit Herman Long and Curtie Virginia Mooney Long. His body will be given for further research into the rare, fatal disease he had- amyloidosis. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time- no date has yet been set.Surviving are his sister, Peggy Ruth Long of Independence, Va. and a half-brother, Bobby Gene Long and partner Peggy Lucille Long of Robbins, N.C. Also a “sister of the heart” Mrs. Edna Parks, of Little River, S.C.

Duane was a kind, funny, humble man who was also known as “whiskers” when he was growing up. He often spoke of the “special blessings” in his life-his wife and family, earning a master’s degree and teaching for 20 years, learning to pilot a small plane and the travels and music that he so much enjoyed.
