Long, Sarah Helen
Our Loving Mother, Sarah Helen Alls Long, 95, of Blacksburg, went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, January 30, 2012. He chose her as his special angel. She was born on September 20, 1916, in Montgomery County, and is the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Davis Alls and Paris Alls. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clem Long; a son, David Long; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Long; brothers, Leonard Alls, James Alls, Thomas “T” Alls; sisters, Claudia Dove, Bessie Price, and Margaret Price. She is survived by her son, Harold Long and his fiance, Judy Terry; daughters and sons-in-law, Martha “Marti” and Lawrence Altizer, Jo and John Proco; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Long; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Hazel Bland; sisters-in-law, Verna Long, Mabel Long; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Ira and Louise Long; brother-in-law, Claude Dove; special friend, Kathleen Simpkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Heritage Hall and Southern Care Hospice for their care; special thanks to Dr. Payne and Roxanne for taking care of her over the years; and Patsy Bratton for all of her care. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dwayne Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress Street, NE, Blacksburg, VA 24060. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
