Ruby M. Caldwell Long, of Christiansburg, graciously sent from above to us below, our precious and loving Mother, Grandmother-n-Great Granny known to many as Mom or Granny known as a loving teacher of many ways.

Ruby was a babysitter for 30 years, she loved her children, gardening, canning and her flower gardens; dancing and making cakes. She will be greatly missed but she will now be the student of Him, with her wings of gold.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Eldrich and Stella Caldwell; husband, Edward Lee Long, Jr.; granddaughter, Adelle Renee Stevers; grandson, Adam Lee Long; brothers, Billy, Hurman, Freddy, Roscoe and Percey Caldwell; sister, Gracie Caldwell; son-in-law, Carl Edward Dirico, Jr.

Ruby is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Goldie M. Long, Debra and Orie Quesenberry, Jr., Lisa F. Long of Christiansburg and Donna and Dewey Shrewsbury, Sr. of Elliston; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Linda Long of Max Meadows, Micheal and Holly Long of Pratt, Kansas, Clayton and Gloria Long, Sr. of McCoy, James Long of Longshop; grandchildren, Ray Sexton, Brian Keith and Crystal Sexton and their five children, Traci Horsely, Andrea and Andrew Batesta and their three children, Paul D. and Jackie Shrewsbury, Jr. and their two children, Annquanett and Jimmy Willis and their three children, Xylina and Jason Payne and their three children, Jessica and Bryant Chrichfield, and their child, Robert Houghteling and Heather Sweeny and their two children, Derek Houghteling, Charity Long and Jeremy Cumbee and their three children, Clayton Long, Jr., Jonathan Long, April Long and her child, Thomas Long, Rachel and Micheal Cody and their three children, Lee and Amanda Quesenberry III and their child, Cullen Quesenberry and one child, Daryl Quesenberry and Jessica Miller, Margaret Quesenberry, James Wesley Long, Brett D. Long and Vince K. Long, Nick Dirico of Blacksburg, Melissa and Carl Dirico III of Giles and their two children, Tina Dirico Smith of Giles and her two children.

She is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Fred Smith of Christiansburg, Dolly Quesenberry of Blacksburg; Mrs. (Fred) Charlie Caldwell of Roanoke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ivan and Sue Caldwell of Floyd, Rexie and Tobby Caldwell of Radford, Jerry and Carol Caldwell of Christiansburg.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Hancock, Sr. and the Rev. Richard Hutchison officiating.
