Long, Phyllis Thomas

Phyllis T. Long, age 84, of Blacksburg, Virginia, went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. She was pre-deceased in death by her parents, Fredrick and Sarah Johnston Thomas. Two brothers, Glenn Thomas and Joe Thomas. Her husband Drexil Long.

She leaves to cherish her memory; two sons and daughter-in-law David W. and Jill Long, of Christiansburg and Darel Long, of Blacksburg. A very special grandson, Tanner Long and granddaughter Alexis Hughes. Two sisters-in-law, Margie Thomas, of Blacksburg and Amanda Thomas, of Glen Allen. Several special nieces, nephews, and friends.

Phyllis graduated from Blacksburg High School – Class of 1957, and pursued employment in several businesses as secretary and bookkeeper. She retired from Virginia Tech with over 20 years of service in Human Resources.

She attended and was a member of Luster’s Gate Union Church and Harvest Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Stanley Smith officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service.
