Long, Lois Banks
Lois Banks Long, 94, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at her home in Radford. She was born December 13, 1911, the daughter of the late George Oscar and Lettie Webb Banks.
Mrs. Long was an active member at the First Baptist Church where she was a devoted student of the Bible and was involved in Sunday School, Wednesday night supper and prayer meetings, WMU and participated in numerous Bible study groups until the age of 94. She also volunteered her time with the Blood Mobile, Meals on Wheels, Radford Hospital, cooked for the homeless in the community and baked bread for and visited neighbors who were ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Oscar and Lettie Webb Banks; her husband, Hugh Wilson Long; brother, Johnny Hugh Banks; and sister, Nellie Rae Alexander. Survivors include a daughter, Gail L. Coyle of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, Gregory Hugh Coyle and Traci Michelle Coyle and her husband, Fasail Qureshi; and two great grandchildren, Saara and Zak.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Radford with the Rev. Kent Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the West View Cemetery in Radford.
