Maury Richard Long, Jr., 83, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, November 7, 2010 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maury Richard, Sr. and Hazel Surface Long, his son, Vernon Leo Long, three brothers and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Long; six daughters and sons-in-law, Jennette Hatcher, Cathy and John Hughes, Diane and Jack Graham, Renee and Ronald Keister, Laurie and Terry Dove, Gail Long; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Pat Long, Ronnie and Sandra Long, Darrell Long, Danny Long; two sisters, Almeta Cook, and Faye Long; a brother and sister-in-law, Sammy and B.J. Long; 26 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arwood Vaught officiating. Burial will follow in the Zack Price/James R. Long Memorial Cemetery, Prices Fork. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until service time at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
