Long, Frances Irene Bishop

Frances Irene Bishop Long, 76, of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012. She was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Poly Scientific. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Patrick Long her parents, Noah and Margaret Jones Bishop; two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Allen Atkins, of Christiansburg, Roslyn and Cecil Sayers, of Pulaski, Donna Newbury, of Christiansburg, and Jo and Randolph Woolwine, of Christiansburg; two sons, Robin Bowers, of Christiansburg and Carlyle Bowers Jr., of Dallas, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Debbie Bishop, of Blacksburg; sister-in-law, Alma Bishop, of Pearisburg; eight grandchildren, Jason and Paul Kirkner, Jake and Josh Hall, Kristin Wilson, Cody Bowers, Ryan Williams and Heather Bowers; four great-grandchildren, Adam and Isaac Hall, Hailey Wilson and Aiden Waters; and two stepgrandchildren, Brandyn and Nathan Sayers. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford, with Pastor Mike Vest officiating. Interment will follow in the New Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in McCoy. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
