Long, Archie Hubert
Archie Hubert Long, 90, of Prices Fork, promoted to glory, Monday, March 13, 2006, at his home. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. on October 23, 1915 to the late Clarence and Roxie Price Long. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Graham Long.
He retired from Hercules, Inc. and also worked in the Lynchburg Foundry, and in younger years worked in the coal mines.
He is survived by his daughter, Esther M. Long of Prices Fork; son and daughter-in-law, Maynard T. and Jeannie Long of New Castle; sister, Lucinda L. Montgomery of Prices Fork; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ira D. and Louise P. Long of Prices Fork, Ralph and Mable Long of Sunnyside; sister-in-laws, Verna Long of Longshop, Helen Alls Long of Blacksburg, Rubel G. Barnett of Prices Fork, Mildred H. Graham of Prices Fork; brothers-in-law and wives, Fred and Peggy Graham of Prices Fork, John and Emily Graham of Prices Fork; five grandchildren, Darrell and wife Erica Sheppard of Prices Fork, Maleta S. and husband, Beaver Brillhart of Blacksburg, Pam McDonald of Lake Panasofskee, Fla., Joey and wife, Rene Lovett of Lake Panasofskee, Fla., Jeff and wife, Janet Lovett of Eustis, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren, Sierra Sheppard, Craig and wife, Katie Brillhart, Jessica Brillhart and fiance, Randy Whittaker, Randi McDonald, Wyatt Walters, Jeff Manuel Lovett and Jacob Ryan Lovett; four great-great-grandchildren, Waylon Whittaker, Wyatt Whittaker, Raven Keffer, Haley Keffer; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Jay Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price and the Rev. Keith Graves officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery.
Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
