loewe_ilse_annaIlse Anna Loewe, 87, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Friday, January 29, 2010, at Kroontje Health Care Center in Warm Hearth Village, Blacksburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Helmuth Erich Loewe. Ilse was born in Sarstadt, Germany, and survived extraordinary conditions during the Second World War, and was able to immigrate to the United States with her family. She lived and worked in New York City, then moved to Culpepper, Va., before retiring in Spring Hope, N.C., for over 35 years. After the death of her husband of 56 years marriage, she moved to Warm Hearth Village in Blacksburg, Va. She was one of the first residents of Hawthorne Ridge in Warm Hearth, and then moved to Kroontje Health Care center two years ago. She developed a network of close friends wherever she lived and enjoyed staying in contact with them. Ilse Loewe is survived by her sister, Hilde Beckmann, of Sarstedt, Germany; and her two children, Gabriele Nause and Hans Loewe; four grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. There will be a memorial gathering for Ilse Loewe at Karr Activity Center in Warm Hearth Village at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. In lieu of flowers, guests are encouraged to make a donation to the Warm Hearth Foundation, 2607 Warm Hearth Drive, Suite 100, Blacksburg Va. 24060. Interment will be alongside her husband in Spring Hope. Her granddaughter, Lisa Bass, wishes to express her thanks to Ilse’s many friends throughout her life and in Warm Hearth community, her personal aides and the staff of Kroontje Health Care Center.
