Loderstedt, Gunther John

Gunther John Loderstedt, M.D. passed away on January 27, 2014 at the age of 88. Dr. Loderstedt was a resident of Pulaski, Virginia since 1968 where he maintained his obstetric and gynecological practice. Dr. Loderstedt was born on January 24, 1926 in Danzig, Germany and was the son of the late Werner and Margarete Zander Loderstedt. Dr. Loderstedt attended the University of Heidelberg, in Heidelberg, Germany, where he obtained his medical degree. He performed his residency at Norfolk General Hospital after coming to the United States in 1955. In 1968 he was married to his wife Jeanette Green Loderstedt in Norfolk, Va. He is survived by his daughter, Heidi Loderstedt Wilson of Charlotte, N.C., and her husband Anthony; three stepsons, James Haughney and his wife Denise of Raleigh N.C., Jeff Haughney and his wife Mary of Virginia Beach, Va., and John Haughney and his wife Sharon of Clearwater Florida. He had seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
