Edward Lee Lockett, 41, of Riner, Va., departed this life the morning of Friday, August 24, 2007, doing what he enjoyed most in this world, playing golf. He was born on October 20, 1965 in Radford, Va., the son of Robert S. Lockett, Jr. and Gloria Jean Kinder Lockett.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Jean Lockett and grandparents, Burlin Edward and Sylvia Jean Kinder, Robert S. Lockett, Sr. and Rhoda Lee Felty Lockett Davis.

He is survived by his father, Robert S. Lockett, Jr. of Riner; his brother, Robert S. Lockett III and wife, Mayra and niece Elizabeth Anne of Atlanta, Ga.; his uncle and aunt, Gerald Lee and Stephanie Lockett of Riner; aunt, Sharron Callahan of Atlanta, Ga.; also many cousins and friends.

It would be difficult to define Ed’s greatest love – golf or football. Although he loved playing golf, the Dallas Cowboys have lost one of their most loyal fans. Growing up in Dallas, Texas, playing soccer and football and watching the Cowboy’s with his grandparents, parents and brother was a great part of his life.

Ed received his degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas and spent his career as a manager in the restaurant business where he worked for several national chains.

There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, August. 28, 2007 at the graveside in Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. Jonathan Webster officiating. The Lockett family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, Va., (382-2612) On line condolences may be sent by visiting www.hornefuneralservice.com.

The Day You Came
The Angels Sang
The Heavens Shone So Brightly
A Mother’s Love
A Father’s Pride
A Brother’s Smiling Face
Now You’ve Left and Everyone Joins The Widespread Grief
I Know In My Heart
You’ll Fly to Heaven on Angel’s Wings
