Linkous, Windell Wade
Windell Wade Linkous, 72, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at his home. He was born in Merrimac, Va., on July 17, 1937, to the late Harley and Lossie (Bill) Linkous. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Idell Linkous; and a sister, Margie “Beady” Trump. He retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant after 30 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley L. Linkous; a daughter, Drema L. Waugh and fiance, Ben Price, of Riner; three sons and daughter-in-law, Donnie Linkous, and Danny Linkous and wife, Lorie, all of Christiansburg, and David Linkous, of Blacksburg; four sisters, Polly Hodge, Anna Lee Jones, Dolly Vest and Wanda Linkous; two brothers, R.B. Linkous and Wayne Linkous; 11 grandchildren, Donnie Linkous and wife, Michelle, Xylina Payne and husband, Jason, Tabatha Porter and husband, Rick, Darrell Waugh Jr., Dylan T. Price, Johnathan Wayne Linkous, Ashley Linkous, John David Linkous II, Britney Linkous, and Kala and Mary; eight greatgrandchildren, Anthony, Shawn, Brooke, Ashlynn, Christian, Serenity, Khaleigh, and Brock; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Ross Linkous. The family wishes to thank the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Riner Station. Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Poston officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, March 2, 2010, at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg, Va.
