linkous_robert_harlessRobert Harless Linkous, 85, of Blacksburg, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at New River Valley Medical Center. He was born December 2, 1924 in Montgomery County to the late William Crockett and Ellen V. Linkous. He was also predeceased by his great-grandson, Carl Songer, sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Ernest Nester, Lillian and Harold Richardson and Laura Linkous, brothers and sister-in-law, William and Ida Mae Linkous, Garner Linkous, Howard Linkous, and his twin brother, Ray H. Linkous, and brother-in-law, Dewey Perfater. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Sylvia Reed Linkous; son and daughter-in-law, Junior and Christine Linkous; grandchildren, Angela Songer and her fianc? David Powell and Wesley Linkous and his wife, Amanda Linkous; a great-grandson, Hayden Linkous; sisters, Elizabeth Perfater and Kathleen Linkous. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, Edna Linkous and Evelyn Linkous; brother-in-law, Loren Reed; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Linkous retired from Radford Community Hospital with 16 years of service. He was a longtime member of Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at New River Valley Medical Center, as well as their family and friends during Harless’ illness. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 7, 2010 at 1 p.m. in the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
