Linkous II, Douglas Clinton

Douglas Clinton Linkous, II, 53, of Zebulon, NC, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016. He was born January 19, 1963 in Radford, VA to Douglas Clinton Linkous I and Janice Ramsey.

He graduated from Rocky Gap High School where he played basketball and baseball. Upon graduation, Clint enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for two years before resigning as sergeant. After being employed at various other businesses (in the course of which, he met Sherry), Clint worked for the past fourteen years as shift supervisor at Flowserve in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Clint was married to Sherry Johnson on March 18, 1995 and they were married for twenty-one years. For Sherry, “he was my person…” He loved the color blue and his favorite time of the year was Spring, when everything was new again. He loved to fish and be outdoors. He loved having a fire in the backyard and being surrounded by his family; cooking for them and taking care of them. Most of all though, Clint (PawPaw) loved his grandbabies. He thought nothing of rolling on the floor and letting them climb all over him, his laughter mixing with their excited shrieks as they played. He is remembered as saying “ I ain’t having those kids fight over a toy, let’s go get a new one!”
Clint cherished his family and his friends. He steadfastly believed that a family must always stick together; that the family bond must never be broken. Clint also understood that family is not always “blood” but must be honored nonetheless. He is remembered as a man who could be counted on; who made everyone feel like they were part of his family.

Clint is remembered with love by his wife Sherry, his sons Nathan Linkous and Eric Inscore and by his daughter, Christina Inscore. His loving family members include his father, Douglas Linkous I, his brothers, Richard Linkous, Dwayne Linkous, Phillip Ramsey and Ronnie Byrd as well as his sisters Jill Linkous, Sarah Gammon and Cynthia Hurst. His much beloved grandbabies are Kaylee Duncan, Brayden Duncan, Kenzie Duncan, Skylar Inscore, Sophia Inscore, Julianne Linkous and Sydney Gamble. Clint was uncle to fourteen nieces and eight nephews.
Clint was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Ramsey. He will be laid to rest by her side. He will be missed every single day.

A visitation service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, NC from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Clint will then be transferred to A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Rev. Ted Anders officiating. Burial will follow in the Ramsey Family Cemetery, Bland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. until service time, 2:00 P.M.
