Linkous, Henderson Marshall
Henderson Marshall Linkous, age 85, of Blacksburg died Monday, July 16, 2012 at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. on August 2, 1926 to the late Doc Henderson Linkous and Myrtle Noonkester Gearheart and also stepfather, Herman Gearheart.
He served in the US Army during WW II. Henderson was a member of: the American Legion Post 0311, the VFW Post 5311, the Isaac Walton League and St. Michael Lutheran Church. He was an avid outdoors man loving to fish, hunt and camp.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Linkous of Blacksburg; son and daughter-in-law, DeWayne and Angie Linkous of Blacksburg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille Linkous of Lebanon, Va., Rebecca Flinchum of Salem, Joe and Randall Lovern of Blacksburg; Edith and Ottie Hall of Blacksburg; brother, Thomas Gearheart of McCoy; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gerry and Harold Vandevort of Blacksburg, Alma and Don Stenberg of Oakland, Mn.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Linda Richardson of Shallotte, NC, Kenny and Connie Richardson of Christiansburg.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 11:00 am in the St. Michael Lutheran Church with Pastor John Wertz officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Michael Lutheran Church, 2308 Merrimac Rd., Blacksburg, Va.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
