Hazel Bealey Linkous, 90, of Merrimac, died Friday, May 25, 2012 at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. She was born in Montgomery County on October 8, 1921 to the late Jessie Black and Millie Brown Duncan Linkous. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Taylor Linkous and a grandson, Stephen Leon Linkous. Hazel was a member of the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught Sunday school for over 40 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Eva and James Woolwine, Blacksburg; three sons and daughters-in-law, William Leon and Diane Linkous, Riner, Donald Eugene and Gayle Linkous, Newport, Larry Linkous, Merrimac; she is also survived by two former daughter-in-laws, Charlotte Linkous and Lenore Linkous; nine grandchildren, David Woolwine, Michael and Candy Woolwine, Karen and Barry Johnson, Todd and Trish Linkous, Denise and Jim Linkenhoker, Stephen and Michelle Linkous, Taylor Linkous, Noah and Jennifer Shanks, and Kelsey Linkous, 16 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorene Beeman, Merrimac, Lois and John Porterfield, Blacksburg, Martha and Phil Scott, Christiansburg. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jerry Sloss and the Rev. Hiawatha Spraggins officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
