George Chester Linkous, 63, of Merrimac, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. He was born on November 21, 1947, to the late Garner C. Linkous and Evelyn Cupp Linkous. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Linkous; and brother, Glenn R. Linkous. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Trina Harris; grandchildren, Kara, Katie, Brandon and Johnathan; and one greatgrandchild; sisters and brothers-in-law, Freda Bowman, Faye and William Pack, Donna Cox and Winston Linkous, Jaunita Tolbert, and Deborah and Jeffrey Nester; and brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Melissa Linkous; nephews and nieces and spouses, Johnny Bowman, David Bowman, Amby and Tony Linkous, Patricia and Todd Linkous, Machelle and James McClain, Scott and Loretta Linkous, Teresa and Danny Epperly, Daniel and Danna O’Brien, Robert and Stefanie O’Brien, Joshua Linkous, Samantha and John Stanger, Gabrielle Linkous, and Andy Jones; special cousin, Brenda Dix; special friend, Carl Jones; and many great-nieces and nephews, great-great nephews, aunts, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 9, 2011, at 3 p.m. in the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. R. D. Doc Vaught, the Rev. Eddie Roberts and the Rev. Paul David Day officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
