Colbern Edward Linkous, age 88 of Dublin passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Born September 13, 1920 in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late David Edward & Winnie Linkous.

His wife of 67 years; Radie Geneva Linkous, three brothers; Elmer, Clifford and Albert “Bud” Linkous, and daughter-in-law; Connie E. Linkous also preceded him in death.

He was retired from Lynchburg Foundry with 14 years of service. He served during World War II in the United States Army as a private in the 134th Infantry – 35th Division and 204th AAA in England, France, Belgium and Germany. He was wounded in duty and received a Purple Heart.

Mr. Linkous was an amateur radio club member as W4FLE and with MARS A4FLE for approximately 60 years. He was a meat cutter for over 40 years for various local stores.

He also was on the Dublin Town Council where he served one term.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Dublin with the Rev. David Hoover officiating. Interment will follow at the Old Dublin Cemetery, where the V.F.W. Post #1184 will conduct full military honors. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the Bower Funeral Home, Dublin.
