linkous_betty_akersBetty Lou Akers Dickerson Linkous, “Granny”, 73, of Blacksburg died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the UVA Medical Center. She was born in Fagg, VA on May 7, 1942 to the late Freeman N. and Lucy Early Akers.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James L. Dickerson, sisters, Beulah Nester, Reba Meredith, brothers, Curtis and Balford Akers, and an infant son.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lenora and Ray Stover, Christiansburg; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Dickerson, Blacksburg, Chris and Crystal Dickerson, Blacksburg; eight grandchildren, Daniel (Stephanie) Stover, Randy (Gwen) Stover, April (Dustin) Keene, Katelyn Stover, Austin Dickerson, Emily Dickerson, Logan Dickerson, Tyler Dickerson, seven great-grandchildren, Brittany, Jesse, Julie, Chelsea, Ellie, Maddie, and Lilly Grace; sister, Beva Akers (Henderson) Woods, brothers, Alvin (Nelva) Akers, Beamer (Ellewese) Akers, George (Joyce) Akers, Raymond (Charlotte) Akers; sister-in-law, Edith Akers Conley; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Billy Collins.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Henderson Woods and Rev. Jason Meredith officiating. Interment will follow in the Akers Family Cemetery, Ellett, VA. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 pm Monday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
