Rev. Henry Alexander Lindsey, Sr. departed this life on April 6th 2022 peacefully at his residence in Radford, Virginia after a long battle with illness. He was born and raised in Wytheville, Virginia on August 30, 1940 to parents Homer and Dolly James. At the age of three he was uprooted to Radford, Virginia where he remained until his passing. Henry was the second oldest of four siblings.

He was a dedicated son, faithful husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his daughter Carolyn, parents Homer and Dolly Lindsey James, brother Clarence James, grandsons Shakeem and Trakin, great grandson Miles and best friends Rev. Jessie Taylor and Kenny Wilson.

He attended Brownell University and obtained a Bachelor of Divinity Degree, Emmaus Bible Institute & Seminary and obtained a Masters and a Doctor of Theology Degree. He was the former pastor of First Baptist Church of Vinton, Virginia for 33 years. He was very well known for his acts of kindness and helping hand throughout the New River Valley, Roanoke City and County, Vinton and well beyond the State of Virginia. He was very civic minded giving his time to many local boards and committees.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Lillian, children Henry Jr, Tina, David (Jennifer), Shirley, Homer III, and “Adoptive play son Rev. Hodge”. Siblings: Ann (Bill), Homer Jr, Sisters-in-law, Lucy, Fanny, and Jenny. Brother-in-law James. Special niece Patricia (Angelo), and special nephews, Billy (Terri), Michael (Ellen), and Timothy (Kelly). Special friend Rev. Dean. Grandchildren: Katina (Morris), Johna, Chelsea (Jason), Shaletta, Shaquille, Darrius, Davonta, Zachary, Homer IV, Damarria, Richard. Great grandchildren: Antoinette, Trinity, Serenity, Davinity, KaJina, Michael, Angel, Demetrius, Zaylynn, Amelia, Emma, Maverick, Malia. Great-great grandson son Jeremiah, and numerous cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2022, 1:00PM at First Baptist Church Radford. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 6PM-8PM at the church. Friends may visit at Serenity on Tuesday, 10:00AM to 2:00PM. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Radford, VA.
