Fred Lilly, Jr., age 90, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at the Springfield Center in Lindside, WV. He was born March 20, 1930, in Sun, WV.

Fred, well known as Jr., graduated from Peterstown High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 and was a Korean War Veteran. After 36 years of dedicated service he retired from Celanese, where he made many lifetime friends. Jr. was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and nephew to a large family. He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, trapping, and most of all, gardening. He took great pride in his gardens each year. He loved watching football, especially the Cowboys, Mountaineers, and Mavericks. He was a member of the Lindside Christian Church.

Fred Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth Lilly; and sister Carol Lilly Daniels. Survivors include his loving wife and wonderful caretaker of 53 years, Elsie Brown Lilly; sister Joyce Lilly Bishop; aunt Virginia Lilly Rorrer; two sons, David Brown and Lindsay, and Jeffrey Lilly and Kim; one daughter, Felicia Pence and Jeff; seven grandchildren, Heath and Amanda, Carly and Jeremy, Dustin and Cayley, Ryan and Brookelyn, Cory and Kinley, Caleb Brown and Hannah and Bailey; eight great grandchildren, Hannah K., Raylynn, Presley, Maddie, Avery, Rhett, Annalise, and Isabelle; and special lifetime friend, William Broyles.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Springfield Center and all of the wonderful caretakers over the years.

Private funeral services for the family only will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Gary Hazelwood officiating; however, those wishing to view the funeral services can do so through the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Facebook page.

Public burial with military rites will follow at the Orchard Cemetery in Ballard, WV. Heath Lilly, Jeremy Garten, Dustin Pence, Ryan Lilly, Cory Lilly, Caleb Brown, and Bailey Snidow will serve as pallbearers. Due to the regulations associated with COVID-19 and the WV Governor’s Mandate, those attending the services are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Peterstown EMS (P.O. Box 128, Peterstown, WV 24963), or your favorite charity in memory of Fred Lilly, Jr.
