Light, Mildred Lee Dobbins

Mildred Lee Dobbins Light, 95, of Pilot, went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2007. She was born July 13, 1911 to the late Cabell and Mary Dobbins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Light; son, Ronald Light; sisters, Edith and Martha Shelton; brother, James Dobbins; grandson, Phillip Correll and daughter-in-law, Beverly Light. She was a member of Red Oak Grove Church of the Brethren.

Mildred taught school in one-room schools at Rifton, Poff and Possum Hollow in Floyd and Montgomery Counties. She will be greatly missed by all. Our loss is heaven’s gain.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Wayne Correll, Roanoke; sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Shirley Light, Troutville, Wendell and Dianne Light, Donald and Beverly Light, all of Pilot; daughter-in-law, Julia Light, Pilot; grandchildren, Joan (Mark) Kesterson, Jeff (Kim), Barry (Heather), Larry, Paul, Tammy, Brian (Teresa), Amanda (Steve), Jerry (Teresa), Jason (Alyssa) Light; great-grandchildren, John, Zach, Gabrielle, Brittany, Robert, Brandon and MacKenzie; sisters, Helen Dobbins, Virginia (Irvin) Yates of Christiansburg; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Wimmer, Lucille Dobbins, both of Christiansburg.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Gardner Funeral Home with the Revs. Hebron Quesenberry, Jimmy Cannaday and Elbert Lee Naff officiating. Interment will follow at Iddings Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Saturday at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
