Lewis, Richard Love

Richard L. Lewis, 81, of Christiansburg, Va., departed this life on Thursday, January 20, 2011. He was born on November 20, 1929, in Roanoke County, Va., to the late Clifton and Lena Lewis. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Waller; one son, Michael Lewis; four brothers; and three sisters. Richard is survived by his wife, Alverta E. Lewis, of Christiansburg; sons, Robert L. Lewis, of Fredericksburg, Larry A. (Nancy) Lewis, of Ashland, Calvin L. (Diana) Lewis, of Salem, and Joseph Stuart, of Seven, Md.; daughters, Brenda ( Robert) Wynn, of Petersburg, and Vivian (Willie) Elder, of Vacaville, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; sisters, Cora (James) Sullivan and Lois Bolden; brothers, Stafford Lewis, Herman (Margaret) Lewis, all of Roanoke, and John (Mary Lois) Lewis, of Silver Spring, Md.; sistersin-law, Christine Lewis, Elizabeth Lewis and Octavia Lewis, all of Roanoke; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
