Lester, Rebecca Hopkins

Rebecca Hopkins Lester, 69, of Narrows, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 25, 2010, in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Lester was born on November 23, 1940, in Pearisburg and was a daughter of the late John E. Hopkins and Lora Chambers Hopkins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy McDaniel. One of her great pleasures in life was feeding and caring for the wildlife around her home. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Debbie Lester and Cheryl Hobbs, of Pearisburg; one son, Butch and Sherry Lester, of Narrows; one grandson, Kenneth and Jennifer Lester, of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Peggy Irvin, of Pembroke, Mary and Jim Brown, of Pearisburg, Sandy Evans, of Rich Creek, and Ruby and Wayne White, of Salem, Va.; one brother, John Hopkins III, of Narrows; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to Barbara and Keith Hobbs, of Pearisburg. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with burial following in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, Va.
